Bob 決定下午要找朋友組隊好好玩一場線上遊戲，但還是缺一個人，所以他決定問問從沒玩過的 Sofia 要不要加入。
Bob: Sofia, are you interested in joining our online game?
Bob：Sofia，你有沒有興趣加入我們的線上遊戲？
Sofia: What is it like?
Sofia：什麼樣的遊戲？
Bob: The goal is to find a treasure chest hidden on an island, but the island is teeming with all kinds of evil monsters that are trying to kill you. The players have to figure out how to get to the treasure without ending up dead. You compete against other teams who are also looking for the treasure.
Bob：目標是找到島上的隱藏的藏寶箱，但是島上到處都是各種邪惡的怪物，他們見人就殺。玩家必須想辦法活著找到藏寶箱。島上也可能有其他玩家和我們競爭。
Sofia: Sounds cool! Count me in.
Sofia：聽起來很酷！算我一份。
Bob: Great, now we’ve got enough people to start a team. Log in and say hello to our two other teammates! They’re Beany980 and Miami0a from the USA.
Bob：好極了，現在我們湊齊人數組隊了。登入和我們其他兩個組員打聲招呼吧！他們是來自美國的 Beany980 和 Miami0a。
(Sofia logs in and the game soon begins.)
(Sofia 登入，遊戲馬上開始。)
Beany980: Gl hf!
Beany980：祝好運，玩得愉快！Bob: Sofia! There’s a monster right behind you! Def! Def!
Bob：Sofia！你後面有一隻怪物！防禦！防禦！
怎麼遊戲才一開始 Sofia 就遇到怪物了！真是太刺激啦！但我們還是先來背背單字吧！

start a team 組隊
start 為動詞，表示「開始」，而 team 為名詞，意思是「團隊」，start a team 意指「組隊」，同樣意思的片語還有 team up、form a group。
Tommy started a team with his friends.
= Tommy teamed up with his friends.
Tommy 和他的朋友一起組隊。The teacher asked us to form a group and complete the task.
老師要我們組成小隊、完成任務。
gl hf (縮寫) 祝好運，玩得愉快！
gl hf 為一個遊戲開始時常見的開場語，是 good luck, have fun 的縮寫 (多用於遊戲時打在對話欄或聊天室)，意思是「祝好運，玩得愉快」。
Beany980 typed “gl hf” before the game started to wish everyone good luck.
Beany980 在遊戲開始前祝大家好運還有玩得愉快。
def (v.) (縮寫) 防禦
def 也是一個縮寫，代表了動詞 defend，意思是「防禦；防守」。「攻擊」則是 attack，相關的縮寫如 DA，意思是 direct attack (直接攻擊)。
Bob screamed “def! def!” nervously.
Bob 緊張地大喊「防禦！防禦！」
遊戲進行到哪了呢？讓我們繼續看下去！
Sofia: Bob! There’s a guy who just called me a noob! Let’s teach him a lesson!
Sofia：Bob！有個傢伙叫我白癡菜鳥！我們給他一點教訓！
Bob: Sure!
Bob：行呀！
(After a bloody fight they finally get to rest.)
(一陣血戰後他們終於有機會喘口氣。)
Miami0a: Hey, Sofia? You know, I think that guy was just baiting you.
Miami0a：嘿，Sofia？你知道嗎，我覺得那傢伙是在刻意激怒你。
Sofia: You mean he called me an idiot on purpose?
Sofia：你是說他故意叫我白癡？
Miami0a: Yeah, some people just love trolling.
Miami0a：對啊，有些人就是喜歡釣魚。
Sofia: It just makes no sense to me! Alright, come on, that treasure chest isn’t going to find itself!
Sofia：在我看來根本沒道理哈哈哈！來吧，藏寶箱可不會自己現身！
Sofia 真是鬥志昂昂！小 V 希望我們也能鬥志滿滿地背單字！
noob (n.) 菜鳥
noob 意指「菜鳥；新手」，類似的詞還有 newbie。
Tommy is a complete noob when it comes to coding.
說到編碼，Tommy 完全是個新手。
bait (v.) 激怒
bait 當做動詞時，意思是「激怒；惹惱」，尤其是指「存心故意地激怒」，意思類似網路上說的「釣魚」。
Don’t be serious with him! He’s just baiting you.
別跟他認真！他是故意要惹怒你。
bait 也可以當做名詞，意思是「餌；誘餌」。
Tommy put some bait onto his hook and cast his fishing line into the lake.
Tommy 在魚鉤上放上誘餌然後丟進湖裡。
troll (v.) 在網路上留下煽動言論
troll 本來為名詞，意思是「山怪」，後來延伸出動詞涵義，意思是「在網路上留下煽動言論」，意思就和上一個單字 bait 類似。
This guy has been trolling people in our FB group, so I kicked him out.
有個人在我們的 FB 社團裡留下煽動的言論，所以我就把他踢出社團了。
