英語是一種充滿色彩的語言。在英語中有很多跟顏色有關的短語，但實際的意思全跟文意上不盡相同，
你都知道這些詞語的用法嗎？農曆新年即將到來之際，讓你的英語也色彩繽紛起來吧！
1.Green thumb 綠拇指：A special ability to make plants grow. 指園藝技巧精湛的人
例句：His garden is very beautiful. I think he must have a green thumb.
他的花園很漂亮，我想他一定有園藝的才能。
2.Yellow bellied 黃色肚皮：A coward. 懦夫、膽小鬼之意
例句：Joe is a yellow-bellied guy. Don’t send him on such a tough assignment.
喬是個膽小鬼，别給他如此艱難的工作。
3.Pink slip 粉紅紙條：A notice of dismissal from employment. 被解僱之意
例句：All 1,300 employees got pink slips today.
今天1,300名職員全部拿到了被解僱的通知單。
4.White elephant 白色大象：An expensive item that is costly to maintain. 累贅之物、昂貴又無用的東西
例句：Over the years this old recreation vehicle has become a white elephant in our yard.
多年來，那輛老舊的休閒用車放在我家院子裡成了沒用的累贅東西。
5.Gold opportunity 金色機會：A very good chance to achieve something. 絕佳機會去達成某件事
例句：Don’t waste such a golden opportunity.
不要錯過那個難得的絕佳機會。
6.Red tape 紅色膠袋：A set of rules which stop progress. 讓進度緩慢的繁文縟節（通常指官僚體系）
例句：Poor people have to suffer a lot of red tape to get welfare.
窮人必須忍受一大堆繁瑣的手續才能申請到社會福利。
7.Silver screen 銀色螢幕：The film industry. 泛指電影產業
例句：You became a legend of the silver screen.
你成為電影產業裡的一位傳奇人物。
8.Blue collar 藍色衣領：Working in the manual labor job. 俗稱的藍領階級
例句：Bart is sick of his blue-collar job.
巴特厭倦了他的藍領階層工作。
